Gangtok

Gangtok

Typically all the state's capital has something to offer, Gangtok with no doubt is the most glittering, hum mining city. Gangtok has the great nightlife of MG Marg, offers a variety of delicious authentic food, pleasant weather, and lots of spots to hang around which keeps travelers engaged for at least 2 days. While in the Morning it showcases the beautiful view of Mount Kanchenjunga you can enjoy it by sipping your tea. Once you are here you can't miss Ganesh Tok, Echey Monastery, White Hall, Tashi View Point, Himalayan Zoological Park, and many other attractions. The best time to visit Gangtok especially from March to May and from October to February.

In the Valley of flowers, Yakten is a small town at an elevation of 5,300 ft above sea level. It is known for pine woods, Orchids flowers, and different species of butterflies snuggled perfectly in transcendent green mountains offering a panoramic view of snow cape Mount Kanchenjunga. There are a couple of good homestays offering great accommodation to their visitors.

Tsomgo Lake

The lake is one of the most breathtaking water bodies in Sikkim. Attended by the monks every year, its water is used to predict the future of Sikkim. The lake is surrounded by pretty wildflowers and pastures where the yaks graze. You can book a yak to take you to the lake and tour around the periphery for good luck. There is a Shiva Temple beside the premises of the lake.

Baba Harbhajan Mandir

This legendary temple is one of a kind, dedicated to a human. This temple is built as a shrine to the Indian Army member who continued his duty even after death. His spirit warned the sleeping Indian soldiers before an Impending attack from the Chinese front. Today his shrine is visited by many who get their wishes fulfilled.

Nathu La Pass

Solely restricted to Indian tourists, Nathu La is not accessible to foreigners. This pass connects India to Tibet and is a part of the Silk Route which enhanced trade between the South Asian neighborhoods. Nathu La has witnessed clashes between India and China. Even today can watch the Chinese soldiers patrol the other side of the border.

Rumtek Monastery

Rumtek Monastery

Built by Changchub Dorje, this monastery is also known as the Dharma Chakra Centre. The largest monastery in the eastern Himalayas, it has traditional designs and is inspired by the Tibetan monastery. Girdled with colorful prayer flags, it houses the sacred relics brought in from the Tsurphu Monastery. The magnificent Gompa is only 24km from the town.
